Abstract This paper seeks to highlight the vital role played by the humanities in an era marked by crises and rapid transformations. Their contribution extends far beyond academic theorization to encompass a direct involvement in fostering hope and promoting community mental health. Through their analytical, interpretive, and critical frameworks, the humanities provide valuable tools for understanding and deconstructing the factors that generate frustration, alienation, and despair, while simultaneously reframing them within alternative narratives that empower individuals and communities to confront contemporary challenges with resilience and optimism. The paper focuses on three interrelated dimensions. First, it examines the production of humanistic knowledge as a cornerstone for understanding social and psychological phenomena and for cultivating critical awareness. Second, it explores the construction of hope as both an existential and a social value that the humanities help to nurture through the reinforcement of positive identities, the promotion of dialogue, and the empowerment of individuals and communities. Third, it addresses the enhancement of community mental health by integrating cultural and social dimensions into mental health approaches, while fostering solidarity networks and public policies that strengthen social cohesion and mutual recognition. The paper concludes that hope should not be viewed merely as an individual emotion, but rather as a social and strategic resource for sustainable development. By transforming knowledge into hope, the humanities contribute to the development of more resilient societies capable of advancing quality of life, social justice, and collective well-being. Consequently, investment in the humanities constitutes an investment in human potential, adaptability, creativity, and the capacity to build a better future Downloads Download data is not yet available.
