The Taiz University Journal of Arts and Humanities is committed to upholding the highest international standards of publication ethics and to ensuring the integrity of the research process, as well as the quality and reliability of the works it publishes. The Journal bases its policies and procedures on the principles and guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) concerning scientific responsibility, the standards of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and other internationally recognized best practices in scholarly publishing.
All parties involved in the publication process, including authors, reviewers, members of the Editorial Board, the Editor-in-Chief, and the Publisher, are responsible for adhering to the principles of academic integrity, transparency, objectivity, confidentiality, and respect for intellectual property rights. These principles contribute to strengthening trust in the Journal and in the scholarly work published within it.
Authors bear full responsibility for the originality of their scholarly work. By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that the work is original, has not been previously published in whole or in part, and is not under consideration for publication by another journal or publishing body. Authors must not submit the same manuscript to another journal or publisher while it is under review by the Journal.
All results and conclusions presented in a manuscript must be based on accurate and reliable data and must be reported honestly and transparently, without fabrication, falsification, manipulation, omission, or alteration that could mislead readers or affect the scientific interpretation of the findings. Authors are responsible for retaining the original data underlying their research and, where necessary, making such data available to the Journal for the purpose of verifying the reported findings.
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial scholarly contributions to the conception or design of the study, its implementation, data analysis or interpretation, or the drafting or substantial scientific revision of the manuscript. Contributions that do not meet the criteria for authorship should be appropriately acknowledged in the acknowledgements section, with the consent of the individuals concerned.
All authors are required to disclose any sources of funding or financial, institutional, or technical support received in connection with the research. They must also fully disclose any personal, professional, or financial relationships that could actually or potentially influence the interpretation, conduct, or evaluation of the study.
If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in a manuscript after submission or publication, the author must promptly notify the Editorial Board and cooperate fully in correcting the error or retracting the article where necessary.
The Journal maintains a strict policy against plagiarism, academic misconduct, data manipulation, falsification or fabrication of results, and the duplicate or redundant publication of previously published work without appropriate disclosure.
All submitted manuscripts are subject to similarity screening before being sent for peer review. The Journal may reject a manuscript at the editorial stage if an unjustified level of textual similarity or any practice inconsistent with publication ethics is identified. If misconduct is discovered after publication, the Journal reserves the right to take appropriate action in accordance with relevant COPE guidance and established publication ethics procedures.
Legitimate quotation, properly attributed reuse of material, and other forms of acceptable scholarly use do not constitute plagiarism, provided that all sources are accurately cited and intellectual property rights are respected.
Reviewers play an essential role in ensuring the quality and scholarly integrity of published research. They are therefore expected to handle all manuscripts with the highest standards of objectivity, integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
A reviewer should accept an invitation to review only when they possess appropriate subject expertise, are able to complete the review within the requested timeframe, and have no conflict of interest that could compromise the independence or impartiality of their assessment.
Peer-review reports should be based on an objective and scholarly evaluation supported by clear reasoning. Reviewers' comments should be constructive and intended to assist authors in improving the quality of their work. Personal, offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate comments must be avoided.
Reviewers are also required to maintain the confidentiality of all information contained in the manuscript and must not use, share, disclose, or otherwise benefit from unpublished material before it has been formally published.
The Editorial Board is committed to making editorial decisions independently and impartially, based on the scholarly merit, originality, quality, and relevance of a manuscript to the Journal's scope. Editorial decisions must not be influenced by the author's nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, beliefs, or political views.
The Editorial Board ensures that the peer-review process is managed with appropriate confidentiality and fairness, selects reviewers with suitable scholarly expertise, and processes all manuscripts according to consistent procedures designed to promote transparency, impartiality, and equitable treatment.
The Editorial Board is also responsible for investigating all allegations of research and publication misconduct, including plagiarism, data manipulation, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and any other practices that violate accepted publication ethics. Where concerns are substantiated, the Journal will take appropriate action in accordance with the principles and guidance issued by COPE and other applicable standards of scholarly publishing.
