Abstract

This semiotic study of Haifa Al-Jubri’s poetry collection The Sea, My Last Argument explores how the sea transforms from a mere natural element into a central, overarching sign from which secondary signs—such as waves, ships, drowning, and tides—branch out, reflecting intertwined existential, feminine, and psychological dimensions. The study further demonstrates how existential and feminine aspects merge within the symbol of the sea, turning it into a space for contemplation, self-expression, and the search for meaning. This, in turn, reveals the depth, richness, and complexity of the poet’s creative experience.
