Linguistic Displacements in Mastoura Al-Arabi’s Poetry Collection "Ma Antabadhtu Siwa Yaqeeni": A Stylistic Analysis

Abstract

This study examines the poetry collection " Ma Antabadhtu Siwa Yaqeeni " by the poet Mastoura Al-Arabi from a stylistic perspective, seeking to uncover manifestations of linguistic displacements and their role in shaping the poetic discourse and constructing its signification. The study proceeds by tracing the relationships between linguistic structure and emotional experience, through an analysis of syntactic, phonetic, and rhythmic displacements in selected texts from the collection. The researcher employed the stylistic approach due to the analytical tools it provides for monitoring linguistic transformations and elucidating their aesthetic functions. The study concluded that linguistic displacements constitute a central stylistic feature in the collection, where techniques such as inversion, ellipsis, and shifting of address (iltifat) contributed to expressing the poet's psychological and existential state. The findings also revealed that the rhythm emanates from within the emotional experience, relying on repetition and phonetic diversity, granting the text its stylistic uniqueness and distinctive aesthetic appeal.
