The Phenomenon of Paradigmatic Deviation in the Elegies of the Poet Mohammed Ahmed Mansour: A Stylistic Study

Abstract

This study dealt with a prominent stylistic phenomenon in the poetry of Muhammad Ahmed Mansour, which is the phenomenon of “stylistic displacement of substitution,” with one of the purposes of his poetry, which is lamentation, which found in his poetry a breeding ground in which various shifts emerged that created the spirit of creativity in it. This study aims to shed light on the stylistic phenomenon of substitutional shift in selected examples of lamentation poetry by the poet Muhammad Ahmed Mansour. And revealing how to employ this phenomenon in poetic text, and giving it high artistic and aesthetic value. The researcher used the stylistic approach in the analysis, which traces the depth of the word and what it means. Through this approach, the vision of the stylistic phenomenon of substitutional shift on which the study was based became clear. The study consisted of an introduction, a theoretical foundation, and five sections: the first section, the shift of simile, the second section, the shift of metaphor. The third section is the shift of metonymy, the fourth section is the shift of linguistic metaphor, and the fifth section is the shift of intertextuality. Then the conclusion contains the most important results of the research.
