The Sunnis’ intellectual confrontation of the Shiite expansion in the Islamic countries: The era of Abd al-Rahman al-Nasser in Andalusia as a model

Abstract

When the Ubaidi state was established in North Africa at the end of the third century AH, Andalusia, which is separated from Morocco only by the Strait of Gibraltar, became at the top of the list of countries targeted by the Ubaidi rulers. The ruler of Andalusia at the time, Abdul Rahman Al-Nasser, confronted this threat at many levels. The intellectual confrontation, in particular, morphed into different measures, including anti-Obeidi propaganda, stalking the Obeidi ideology in Andalusia, supporting the Maliki school of thought at home and abroad, and taking care of works on Ifriqiya and its scholars.
