This research aims to study the poetic imagery in the anthology Yuqattaf al-Sada (The Echo is Plucked) by poet Chafika Waail, employing a stylistic approach. The study focuses on highlighting the sources and patterns of poetic imagery and examining their aesthetic impact on the poetic texts. The research is divided into two main sections: the first explores the sources of imagery, while the second analyzes its patterns.
The study concludes that the sources of poetic imagery in the poet’s work are diverse, ranging from imaginary and emotional depictions to elements of nature and history. Similarly, the patterns of imagery within the anthology are varied, manifesting as sensory images—auditory, visual, gustatory, and olfactory. Furthermore, the poet utilizes rhetorical deviation (sprung rhythm/displacement), which imparts an interpretive dimension to the texts. Finally, the research concludes that imagery is not merely an ornament; rather, it is a tool for revealing the poet’s inner truths and philosophical visions.
